Our Story
I started my journey in the retail industry at 16 years old. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always had a passion for people, inclusivity, and expressing myself through fashion. Over almost two decades I have had the luxury of working as part of management for several fashion retail companies, specialty as well.
During those years I’ve known people to leave the workplace due to lack of transparency, pay, customers, and most importantly management, the boss. I have always employed a group of people that appreciate me as their manager and were loyal to me. As Gerard R. Griffin stated, “People work for people, not for companies” and I couldn’t agree more. This is a motto that I have lived by, that set the tone early on in my career.
In 2020, when I was laid off like most people during the pandemic, I had an “AHA” moment. I pride myself on being affable, kind, fair, courteous and honest. I believed in myself enough to know that, if I can run a successful and enjoyable company for someone else, I can do it for myself-but with a bigger purpose. The pandemic brought about fear, hatred, and love to many people, and I wanted to make a difference in my own way.
So, I decided to start Humanity LLC, to lead by example as an owner exemplifying kindness, love, respect, and courtesy. With the strong belief in extending grace, I believe that how a company treats its employees, how employees treat customers, and how customers treat us is all important in how we make a positive change in the world. The saying “The customer is always right” is outdated and mostly taken out of context. Humanity isn’t ever going to be perfect but we as people can start with treating each other with respect, kindness, and LOVE.
